The Brain Tumour Charity

In 2011 we (5 sisters) had a call we would never forget…

It was a call from our mum telling us very calmly and very matter of factly that she had a mass on her brain. She had had an unexpected seizure several weeks before at work which she had put down to working hard and being hungry. A few weeks later she underwent major brain surgery to remove 2 large benign Meningioma tumours from her frontal lobe in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. She received such amazing care and despite a long road to recovery and some funny stories along the way (we will share with you soon ;)) we have seen our mum go from strength to strength. Although she still has lasting side effects she is busier and more active than most 70 years old we know!

Whilst visiting our Mum in hospital we vowed to do something to help raise awareness of these potentially life threatening and life changing tumours and are so pleased to have now realised that promise by becoming a corporate partner of The Brain Tumour Charity.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults. The Brain Tumour Charity is at the forefront of the fight against brain tumours, making a difference everyday to the lives of people with a brain tumour and their families. They fund pioneering research to increase survival rates, raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours and provide support for those affected.

At Box of Hugs we are supporting the charity in a number of ways.

We have just launched a 'Little Box of Calm - In Partnership With The Brain Tumour Charity' This beautiful gift is perfect for anyone going through a tough time who needs a little moment of calm. Whether for a friend/ loved one who has received a recent diagnosis, starting treatment or simply someone needing some love and a big hug during a difficult time, we hope this gift will put a smile on their face whilst at the same time supporting this wonderful charity. For each ‘A Little Box of Calm’ purchased, £5.00 will go directly to The Brain Tumour Charity to support their vital work.
